What we're looking for

We’re looking for passionate, motivated and organised student volunteers to join LUU’s newly developed Liberation Student Committee (LSC) as a ‘Network Lead’. LSC will comprise of multiple student ‘Network Leads’ representing LUU's Liberation Groups. The Network Leads will work to develop and build a vibrant and active student network that aims to represent diverse student voices.

We currently have 9 Network Leads and are looking to recruit more people to join them.

The Network Lead roles available include:

All positions available

  • Black Student Network Lead
  • Disabled Student Network Lead

Positions Available alongside an existing Network Lead

  • Trans Student Network Lead
  • Working-Class Student Network Lead
  • LGBTQ+ Student Network Lead

There is the potential to co-lead on more than one network, to accommodate intersectional identities and the opportunity to submit an ‘open application’ if you would like to create and lead a student network not covered by those mentioned above or within the Liberation groups. An open application provides an opportunity to represent a marginalised identity that is not already included including but not limited to Neurodivergent students, Refugees, Student Parents or Immigrants.

We understand that applicants likely identify with more than one of the groups above and may want to contribute in discussions and projects that cover multiple areas of focus. As such, LSC will have an intersectional and collaborative approach where network leads are encouraged to collaborate with one another on projects.

If you would like to learn more about the Liberation Student Committee, you can drop by the LSC stall in the LUU Foyer on 19 November from 1pm-3pm to learn more.

What you get in return

The elected student executive officer for Equality & Liberation, Amara Relf, will lead and chair the Liberation Student Committee meetings and support you as a Network Lead, with assistance from the Student Communities Coordinator (Liberation), Erica Wood and the wider Political Engagement Team.

This volunteer opportunity will give you valuable transferable skills in event planning, campaigning, communication and negotiation, collaboration and teamwork, IT skills, and advocacy and outreach.

How can I get involved?
