What we're looking for

We’re looking for passionate, motivated and organised student volunteers to join LUU’s Liberation Student Committee (LSC) as a “Rep”. LSC will comprise 8+ student ‘Reps’ that each will work to develop and build a vibrant and active student network that aims to represent diverse student voices and LUU's Liberation Groups. The Rep roles include:

  • Black Student Rep
  • LGBTQ+ Student Rep
  • Women’s Student Rep
  • Working-Class Student Rep
  • Disabled Student Rep
  • Neurodivergent Student Rep
  • Trans Student Rep
  • Asian Student Rep

If you think there’s a community of marginalised and under-represented students at the University of Leeds not listed, then you can apply and suggest a network down below.

We understand that applicants likely identify with more than one of the groups above and may want to contribute in discussions and projects that cover multiple areas of focus. There will be the opportunity to lead on a specific project or campaign as a rep and a joint one that affects all communities intersectionally.

What you get in return

The elected student executive officer for Equality & Liberation, Amara Relf for this year and Saffy Farid for the next year, will lead and chair the Liberation Student Committee meetings and support you as a Rep, with assistance from the Liberation Coordinator and the wider Political Engagement Team.

This volunteer opportunity will give you valuable transferable skills in event planning, campaigning, communication and negotiation, collaboration and teamwork, IT skills, and advocacy and outreach.

How can I get involved?

If you are interested, please have a look at the attached role description and complete the application as soon as possible. Please note that applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until all positions are filled and so we may close the position at any point without prior notice.
