If you are committed and highly motivated with an ability to work in a demanding and fast paced, democratic organisation, then this role could be the one for you.
Leeds University Union (LUU) is a charity that helps over 38,000 students Love their time at Leeds. Located at the heart of campus, the Union is a space to meet people, make new friends and get involved.

Want to work with students engaging them in change-making across the Union, University and the city of Leeds?
The role of Student Communities Coordinator (Policy and Campaigns) is an exciting opportunity to work with students who want to make change, run campaigns and stand in elections. You’ll work within the Political Engagement Team who take a lead on campaigning, liberation and representation of students from across campus, and support other teams across Leeds University Union to connect our work to Clubs & Societies, the academic experience and the wider Leeds community. It will allow you to support participatory and deliberative democratic structures, giving the successful candidate a great opportunity to develop your project management, training delivery, communication and recruitment skills.
Tasks will include delivering our sector leading policy process, the Better Forums. The Better Forums are how students create policy to guide LUU, and your role works to ensure they are democratic, inclusive and participative.
You’ll also support our Student Executive Officer election, LeadLUU, as we work to increase student turnout as well as increase and diversify student engagement. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with student leaders, including those from liberation and marginalised backgrounds; supporting them on campaigns, events and with workshops and training.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a highly motivated member of staff with an appetite for supporting and empowering our members, with a particular aptitude for policy development and research. The ideal candidate will be able to solve problems independently, have a creative mindset and be willing to work as part of a larger team.
What you get in return
The benefits you can enjoy include generous holiday allowance as well as extra Union closed days, extensive opportunities for learning and further development, holiday buy back options, NUS TOTUM Card, onsite venue staff discounts, discounted travel card, and discounted gym membership.
