About the role:
Working with the Social Media Coordinator and wider Marketing and Communications Team, you will create and edit social-first content for LUU’s channels, with Instagram and TikTok as the focus.
Depending on your skills, you will create videos, photographs, Reels and graphics in response to agreed briefs. You will capture activity across LUU’s bars, cafés, venues and outlets, as well as at events on and off campus, helping students discover what is happening and how they can get involved.
You will also schedule and publish approved content, research trends and best practice, contribute ideas in planning meetings and work with colleagues, student groups and other stakeholders to deliver content to agreed deadlines.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Creating and editing videos, photographs, reels and graphics in response to briefs from the Marketing and Communications Team.
- Producing social-first content primarily for LUU’s Instagram and TikTok channels.
- Capturing content across LUU’s bars, cafés, venues, outlets, events and activities on and off campus.
- Scheduling and publishing approved content using LUU’s social media publishing software.
- Participating in content planning meetings and contributing fresh, creative ideas.
- Researching student content channels, current trends, emerging formats and examples of best practice.
- Working with colleagues, student groups and stakeholders to create relevant and representative content.
- Managing allocated project tasks and completing content to agreed timelines.
- Supporting campaign activations and events such as Leeds Varsity, Leeds Ball and open days when required.
About you
You are passionate about student life and understand the kind of content that engages University of Leeds students. You enjoy developing creative ideas and bringing them to life through video, photography, editing or visual content.
You are confident using social media, comfortable communicating with others and willing to appear on camera when required. You will be organised, reliable and able to work collaboratively while managing deadlines across multiple pieces of content.
You’ll need:
- To be studying at degree level at the University of Leeds and looking to gain experience through part-time work alongside your studies.
- Experience creating content for social media through personal, academic, voluntary or paid projects.
- Experience using Instagram, TikTok and other social media platforms effectively.
- Experience capturing photo and video content and creating reels or other short-form video.
- Skills using photo, video-editing or content-creation software.
- The ability to tailor engaging content for different social media platforms.
- A good understanding of current social media trends, formats and audience engagement.
- Confidence communicating with others and appearing on camera.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work across multiple projects.
- A creative, proactive and collaborative approach, with an understanding of the interests and experiences of University of Leeds students.
Experience attending, promoting or supporting events and activities, and familiarity with Canva, Asana and CapCut, would be advantageous.
