About the role:
The Gryphon is a student-led publication representing student voices through print and digital journalism. It offers opportunities to get involved in writing, editing, design, photography, and digital content across a range of sections. Whether contributing articles, developing editorial skills, or working on design and production, there is a place for everyone. No prior experience is required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
What we’re looking for:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in media, journalism, and student engagement. As Editor-in-Chief, you will empower the student committee to deliver an exceptional experience for a large and diverse membership. You will create opportunities for members to be creative, develop their skills, and contribute to a high-quality publication.
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day running of The Gryphon. This includes overseeing the planning and delivery of print and digital content, supporting section editors, and ensuring strong editorial standards across all outputs. You will play a key role in shaping the direction of the publication, enabling a wide range of voices and ideas to be represented.
You will also work closely with the committee to support content production, contributor development, and the effective use of The Gryphon’s spaces and resources. Furthermore, the role involves collaborating with other clubs and societies, the Student Executive, alumni networks, and relevant external organisations to strengthen The Gryphon’s profile and impact.
We are also looking for a candidate ready to contribute to the wider clubs and societies community. At LUU, we have a 350+ strong network of student groups. As Editor-in-Chief, you will use your communication and partnership-building skills to create new collaborations that enhance both The Gryphon and the wider student experience.
What you get in return
The benefits you can enjoy include holiday pay, extensive opportunities for learning and further development, NUS TOTUM Card, onsite venue staff discounts, discounted travel card, and discounted gym membership.
